Well, The Kenny Chesney Concert Looked Like Fun

(Post-Gazette ) - Pittsburgh police reported this afternoon that 73 people were arrested or cited inside and outside of Heinz Field in connection with Saturday's Kenny Chesney performance.

That was on top of 43 minors cited by Pennsylvania State Police for underage drinking during a sweep of the parking lots.

City police said they responded to at least 10 large fights during the festivities. No officers were injured.
But they had plenty to keep them busy: assaults including an indecent assault in the stadium concourse, public urination, disorderly conduct, underage drinking, drunken driving, ticket scalping and a robbery.

Today in "something to bitch about", people are all up in arms about the "aftermath" of the Kenny Chesney concert this weekend. The one day where everyone, and I mean everyone, is a country music fan. There are Facebook groups and what seem to be communist websites posting about how this has to stop. Uhhhh.... what? You expected over 100,000 people to pick up every piece of trash, not get drunk, and wake up for church the next morning?

Like any sane human I was at the tailgate/concert and granted it was a huge shitshow. Nothing that I would say has NEVER happened. Compare it to a Thursday night in New Orleans. But you know what else is a travesty? Parking is $60, beers in the stadium were as high as $13, and thousands of people that didn't go into the show went to the casino or bars in the area and spent thousands of more dollars. The millions this show generates on a yearly basis has to be worth the trash. And you're telling me for $60 a car you can't hire some immigrants to come clean that parking lot in an hour? I can round of a bunch of homeless people that would do it for $20 and a bottle of Jack.

And by no means am I saying I support underage drinking, DUI's, etc., etc. But at some point in time use your own brain and quit trying to control others. You don't want to be around a bunch of drunk idiots? Stay out of the Gold Lot. You don't want your kid to get an underage? Don't let them go. But don't tell me I can't get drunk in a parking lot and pee on a car when it's 90 degrees outside and there are 4 port-a-potties in the whole damn lot. Guarantee no one from Heinz field or the Casino is making a fuss. They are just rolling around in their money and counting down the days until next year.

P.S. - For the number of people there, the arrest stats are not that bad. No officers injured. But hey only 21 people got shot in Baltimore this weekend!

Russel Shell not welcomed back to Pitt

(TribLive) - Pitt officials have decided not to allow running back Rushel Shell to return to the university, a source close to the situation said Monday.

Shell, who said in April he wanted to transfer to UCLA, had reached out to Pitt officials in recent weeks about a possible return. He had decided not to attend UCLA, because he wants to remain close to his 16-month-old twin daughters.

Shell was No. 1 on Pitt's running back depth chart through the first two weeks of spring practice when he told Chryst he wanted to transfer.

Big news from Pitt football today after rumors over the weekend caught wind that Rushel Shell was looking to return to the Panthers. Once and for all it seems like we can hop of the Rushel Shell roller coaster. I for one love the move by Pitt. Shell is more of a symbol of the Pitt program that went through head coaches like Kim K. rolled through athletes, not the program that Paul Chryst and his staff are trying to rebuild. I think the fact that he wanted to reunite with Todd Graham almost lets you know he was never going to be onboard with the new staff.

He's a true talent but I'm not buying the "want to be closer to my daughters" thing. I mean he went to visit UCLA, so he knew where it was when he chose them in April. When it all happened I wasn't surprised that he picked a school on the other side of the country, mainly to get away from his baby mama. Once you mix that with LA women I think a lot of people thought, "well ya, maybe he's not as dumb as he looks".

Sooner or later the truth will come out. I'm sure he has a million different people in his ear about what to do. All hoping he makes it so they can get a sliver of his soul. Distant "Uncles" giving advice has ended well for a lot of other athletes with great potential. God speed, Rus.

Welcome to The Point

Hey Everyone, welcome to my blog "The Point". I'm a 24-yr old, newly unemployed Pittsburgh native that loves everything about our city. After graduating from Pitt and working in a software job that was sucking the soul out of me, I moved back to the 'Burgh to start a less sad, more broke lifestyle.

This blog will cover everything from sports (Pirates, Pens, Steelers, Pitt), local happenings, cute women, and my take on the absurd news/video/pictures that the internet blesses us with everyday. I hope you enjoying reading as much as I enjoy writing.
